Regn och blåst under natten gjorde att det inte kändes direkt spännande att stiga upp. Men av erfarenhet så kan Beidaihe fågelstation alltid bjuda på något spännande. Så även idag! Första rundan gav en, av den nu mera dagliga arten, manchurisk cettia. Men det var på andra rundan som det verkligen slog till med en kinesisk sångare! Härlig liten pippi som mycket väl skulle kunna gå förbi som kungsfågelsångare om det inte vore för att den lockar så pass flitigt under hanteringen.

 

 

 

 

 

Vid ”the other base” satt en manchurisk smygsångare(eller va fanken de nu heter på svenska, Bradypterus thoracicus davidi i vart fall) och sjöng för fullt. När den nu satt så nära näten borde det inte vara en match att fånga fågeln, kan man tycka. Det hade det nog inte varit heller, om det varit så att vi fått fånga den. Men ”very important people”(politikerna som äger parken) var tvungna att åka omkring i parken, och vi fick därmed inte vistas vid de bortre näten. Bandspelarna fick istället stå vid ”this base” och sjunga för fullt i förhoppningen om att locka dit smygfisen. Men den ville ej låtsas om dessa.

 

Under eftermiddagen kom det in ett kallt och tråkigt regnoväder(dock dumt att klaga när det är regndag nummer sju sedan bloggens start i vår) som kommer att hålla i sig i minst en dag till. Därav kan rapporteringen om ringmärkningen här bli lätt gles de kommande dagarna.

Rain and wind during the night, made it hard to get up in the morning. But thanks to the experience of this wonderful spring we know that Beidaihe Bird Observatory always offer something exciting. So even today! The first round gave one, of the now more daily species, Manchurian Bush Warbler. But it was the second round that it really struck with a Chinese Leaf Warbler! Lovely little birdie who could well pass as a Pallas’s Leaf Warbler if it were not for that it calls so diligently during the process.

 

At "the other base" a Baikal Bush Warbler (Bradypterus thoracicus davidi) were sitting and sang in full power. As it sat so close to the nets, it should not be a match to catch the bird, one might think. It had probably not been that either, if it was so that we were allowed to capture it. But "very important people" (the politicians who owns the park) had to drive around in the park, and we were therefore not allowed staying at those nets. The MP3s were instead standing at "this base" and playing at max in the hope of attracting Mr Bush. But it did not seems to care about these.

 

In the afternoon it came a cold and dull rainfall (however silly to complain when it's the seventh day of rain since starting the blog this spring) that will persist for at least another day. Hence, the reporting of the banding might be scarce in the coming days.
